Tuesday 12/24/13

On 12/21, the Sun reached the lowest point on its yearly cycle, into the grounded realism and constructive nature force of Capricorn. The Moon, heart spirit, on its monthly trip around that same seasonal cycle, was back in peak passion Leo, where the Sun is at mid-summer. Now the Moon is moving down through practical Virgo (Monday, Tuesday), loving Libra (Wednesday, Thursday), intense Scorpio (Friday, Saturday) and warm Sagittarius (Sunday, Monday) before it too hits bottom, into earthy Capricorn Tuesday morning 12/31. It will join the Sun and Pluto on New Year's Day for a very grounding Capricorn new moon (3:14am PT), the reinforced power of nature rebounding from a foundation of core needs. With planets at the other corners of our seasonal cycle (Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Cancer, Mars in Libra--grand cross in first signs of seasons), this will give a big push to the expression of elemental forces on our planet, a strong beginning to a new year of empowered emergence and transformative development.

No one ever suggested that Jesus was born December 25. As the political church gained power, they sought to turn popular seasonal festivals into religious rituals. After winter solstice, when the Sun has ended months of decline and begins to rise again in our sky, people everywhere naturally celebrate the return of divine light to our darkened world with family gatherings and expressions of tenderness and gratitude. This is something all people can embrace, regardless of belief or culture, as together we move through the coming winter and look forward to the flowering of a new spring.

Peace and love everyone, everywhere.
