Monday 1/17/11

Anchored in physical reality, mind heavy with power at the bottom of things (Sun, with Mercury meeting Pluto, in Capricorn), the heart spirit is over the top into flowing feeling (Moon in Cancer), a full moon there Wednesday 1/19 (1:21pm Pacific time), completing a historic experience of deep mind in tender sensitivity (trine Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces). Saturday, big energy leads the way into passionate emergence (12-year cycle Jupiter into Aries Saturday 9:11am), a preview of where we're headed. We are guided by love (Saturn in Libra).

Though we still must get through the test of winter, alignment in our essence (Sun in Aquarius, starting 1/20) and saturating tenderness (Sun in Pisces, starting 2/18), this full moon, triggering the release of spiritual wisdom, will propel us toward a spring of revolutionary creative expression charged with deep nature power (at new moon on April 3, Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, square Pluto in Capricorn).

Are astrology signs changing?

I've been asked to comment on the "discovery" sweeping the airwaves that astrology signs are shifting. This is ridiculous and hugely uninformed, something astronomers often bring up to dismiss astrology because they literally don't know what they're talking about.

In Western astrology, your "sun sign" is determined by the sun's position in the twelve equal divisions of our natural seasonal cycle, the solstice/equinox pattern, which, yes, rotates every 26,000 years against the background of stars (very old news). It doesn't matter what stars it's aligned with. There's no "new sign."

As Sir Isaac Newton famously responded to astronomer Edmond Halley, when he questioned how Newton, of all people, could believe there's anything to astrology: "Sir! I have studied it, you have not!"

Thursday 1/6/11

Tension between earthy energy and the need for harmony breaks Friday morning. (Sun in Capricorn square Saturn in Libra 6:00am Friday Pacific time). Heart is moving through alignment in awareness (Moon in Aquarius), grounded by love (trine Saturn in Libra 4:59pm Thursday), anchored by the pull of deepest feelings (conjunct Neptune in Aquarius 12:51pm Friday). It turns to tender sensitivity Friday night for the weekend (Moon into Pisces 6:57pm), emerging with personal passion Monday morning (into Aries 7:24am).
